Yinan Li Change
I happened to know the news from China Telecom about Mr. Li, Yinan, actually, the news are everywhere in many majority media, that he left Huawei again. It wouldn’t be surprised since he might have nothing to do after he sold Harbour Network and back to Huawei. However, suprisely, he went to Baidu, a searching engine company competed with Google, as CTO.
I used to worked for Huawei and Harbour Network. Mr. Li, Yinan is used to be my boss. He is the man who has many legend story. He is VP of Huawei when he was 27 years old. He left Huawei when he was 30. He spin-ed off Harbour Network, promoted 3-layer LAN Switches in 2001. He brought 802.1x to China Netcom. He also advocate IP-DSLAM in China Telecom. He has a keen sence about what technology will be adopt by the market.
However, he lost the game playing with Huawei. So, he went back to Huawei in 2006 as chief scientist. I believe Mr. Ren, Huawei’s Chairman, would not give him power anymore. I am always guessing what technology in his mind during these two years.
The answer came out on Oct 6th, 2008. He decided to be a CTO of Baidu. He used to be a telecom expert, but right now, he will develop his energy in the Internet.
We may also guess that, Baidu may develop more products in telecom area since the Internet searching market may not support their margin.
Looking forward for good news, Mr. Li, Yinan.
